Johannesburg Cake Smash Photographer – Matthew is turning ONE!

This shoot was incredibly special for me.   Beradette and I met on an online forum approx 5 years ago (long story) and soon became friends.     Bernie often mentioned online that her and her hubby were trying for a baby and I along with all their other friends and family were waiting for an announcement along the line.      Life changed it’s path and soon Bernie and Shaun realised that adoption might be the best route for them to follow.      One beautiful Sunday out of the blue I got a Whatsapp message with THE most gorgeous eyes looking back at me and Bernie saying “Meet my son Matthew”.      I burst out crying, this dream that they had been following had all of a sudden become reality.     Over the next few weeks we watched Matthew form a bond with his new parents and I would ooh and aaah over all his pictures and especially his videos because he was laughing and smiling in all of them!

When they came to my studio I expected him to be the same, and so he was, just smiling and laughing at us constantly.   What I didn’t expect was this totally fierce bond between him and his parents that left me stunned!      He adores his father, he adores his mom, but he did not enjoy being put down out of their reach.    We tried it all.    He sat with the cake for a short while but was soon lifting his arms for daddy to pick him up, and honestly how do you say no to that.     Even when we put him in the bath he looked at mom and was  – mommy I rather just want you to hold me.   The minute he was dressed and daddy Shaun sat with him to play cars the smiles were totally back.

Guys you have all stolen my heart and I just know I will love Matthew forever ♥
